VOF Week 2: The Girl-Soldier
The Girl-Soldier
Injustice, corruption, discriminations she saw
Deeply entrenched in her society
ruling all and sundry
Her youthful innocent heart bleeds
She shields blood and not tears
She was too disappointed to understand
Then she carried a gun to fight
A gun of truth
The gun of passion
The gun of selfless service
Her gun is her passion to make a difference
The courage to be the changed
The determination to make a change
There goes the girl-soldier

girl soldiers
I love that image! A gun of truth and a passion to make a difference. It is why I come here, I want to do great things to help the world become better but have only my words right now. Together we see how each of us is doing our part by sharing and caring for each other.
thank you for the beautiful poem!

A poignant poem
This poem brings up painful truth as well as a positive vision. It makes me curious about you as the author, and whether the girl-soldier is you and whether the gun in the poem is a metaphor or a weapon or both. In any case, I like the use of poetry in response to the week's assignment. Quite powerful. Poetry does leave the reader asking questions, though. Not a bad thing, but I do find myself wanting to know how this relates to your personal story. I also understand that some stories are hard to share and perhaps the tool of poetry gets us to the emotional truth without the need for the details. Thanks for sharing this with us, and for your courage.
