INFIDELITE CONJUGALE

MARITAL INFIDELITY

In many families, marital infidelity is the source of family issues. The worst affected victims are young girls and women. In rural communities, men are considered as untouchable and incorrigible beings who can do whatever they want and whatever they think without worrying about what anyone else might think. If a woman wants to speak out, she is prevented from doing so, as if she does not have the freedom to speak in front of men. As everyone knows, there are significant and dangerous consequences, such as sexually transmitted diseases and mental pain that can lead the victim to suffer from hypertension. And all these consequences are felt by women who will not bear to see their husbands with other women. Another problem in rural communities is that divorce does not exist and cannot be practiced. Once a woman is married, she cannot easily decide to get divorced, even if her home feels like hell. She tells herself that if she gets divorced she will be criticised by her community and be thought of as a prostitute. Having seen such situations in my own community, I would like to suggest that boys who are growing up be taught from a young age to treat their sisters like equals to prevent the fear that may be observed later. Young girls should not see marriage as a prison or something that cannot be ended. If they realise that it isn’t working out, they should take a decision that is for their own good to protect themselves. Women should take the time to talk to their daughters so they are also prepared from a young age for a better future.

Merci
