Introducing myself and my journal: Applied Anthropologist to Accidental IT entrepreneur

About Me:
I am an owner and co-founder of two IT startups, as well as a mom, wife, neighbor and dog owner.

I am passionate about using ICTs for international development, and empowering women through technology. My particular IT interests are in using open data to build mobile and web apps, the "business side" of IT, and measuring effectiveness and sustainability. In international development, I have particular experience working with USAID, many non-profits, NGOs and consulting firms, as well as am a huge advocate for the use of small businesses in foreign assistance. I love to mentor young people and talk about work policies that empower and engage non-traditional employees.

My Passions:
ICT4D, ICTs and Gender, Open Data

My Challenges:
Too much to do, not enough time, money or energy

My Vision for the Future:
Equality of access, equality of usage, equality of ownership.

My Areas of Expertise:
Small business and entrepreneurship, USAID, gender and IT.

Welcome to World Pulse,

Welcome to World Pulse, Siobhan.

Wow! Applying anthropology in this digital day and age must certainly be exciting. So much of the world is still in the pre-electricity age, while others are exploring and impacting the universe with energy impulses that are like magic to most.

What we do here is mentor. I am currently serving in several editorial capacities with World Pulse. Scientific-minded and technologically accomplished women are much needed in efforts to empower others in today's world.

I, too, have been an entrepreneur and know the power of small business in achieving economic empowerment for families.

You are now a part of a thriving grassroots network of women leaders and supporters from more than 190 countries. See the Getting Started Guide to learn more about networking in our community: http://worldpulse.com/pulsewire/about/guide

I look forward to hearing more of your voice in WorldPulse.

Blessings.
Yvette
