Week two read it "Step by Step"
My community is undeveloped because there are full of uneducated people with uncreative minds. They misunderstand about education and over belief in religion which make their young generations suffer. When I stayed at home, I tried to think about solution for problems but I could not find any. I have a great opportunity to study in Bangladesh because I got encouragements from teachers and successful guests. Moreover, some villages’ situations in Bangladesh are like my community, so it reminds me to rethink about consequences of my community. I dug and dug to find the treasonable ideas to develop my community. Finally I found it that was to educate children in my village.
Women and men in my village gave up studying because of religion. Most of the girls in my village cover their heads and some wore black cloaks because their families have a strong belief in religion. I used to talk with some female villagers about her regret of studying. She admired I was so lucky that I had opportunity to study high. I politely asked to her why you gave up studying. She was a little bit silence and I saw her tear was moving across her pink cheeks. She gave me tremble reply she had no choice as I knew the main religion of Cambodia is Buddhist, so no one cover their head or wore black cloaks to school. She was the only one that covers the head in class, so some classmates laughed at and teased her. Moreover, they treated her like alien. That was a childish question to ask that why didn’t she take it out. The reasons were her parents will be frustrated or angry that these make her feel guilty. I came to hold her with a feeling of sorry and we were calm at a moment and I changed topic to make her feel better. After talking with this girl it reminds me to think about how my villagers gossiped me.
Most parents in my village did not encourage or gave children chances to study in government school because they misunderstood. Most likely, adults and children’s minds are affected easily. So parents should care much about their feelings, especially studying, parents should encourage them to fight hard for it. In contrast, parents ignore the education and they would be angry if their children studied hard without doing housework. They always shouted to their children study, study what would they get from studying? Moreover, they liked send their sons to religious school in other provinces because they wanted their sons become holy people. Most parents in my village only cared religion than society, even though my grandfather.
Due to these consequences, they urge me to join every social activity. Whenever, I heard something that relate to social, I rarely miss them. I always join them because I hope I will get experiences from those programs or activity. I will get ideas from what I do and take them to develop my community.
