Introducing myself and my journal: NOTHING ABOUT US WITHOUT US

About Me:

I HAVE FOUNDED MANY DISABILITY ORGANISATIONS (DPOs) in Kenya at the grassroot level to see to it persons with disabilities can easily be reached through organized group.
I am the founder of a national NGO under the name united disability empowerment in Kenya (udek) which ahs been running since June 2004 which is a cross disability organization.

UDEK undertakes empowerment initiatives targeting various categories of disabilities i.e. blind,deaf,albinos,physically challenged, autism among others.

UDEK implements the following programs targeting persons with disabilities:
1. ICT training majoring on adaptive technology
2. Train the hearing and non-hearing persons in Sign language
4. Civic Education
5. Voter Education
6. Other capacity building training programmes when opportunities arise.

My standard level of education is - Masters in Business Administration - option Leadership development

My Passions:
To see the voiceless be heard and empowered.

My Challenges:
Limited resources.It has been my dream to set up an ICT resource centre with accomodation facilities which can attract students with disabilities from wide and far..I pray one day the dream will be realised

My Vision for the Future:
To see a barrier free society for all

leadership, business management training, ICT

I count it a great privileg to let you know that you no belong to community of over 60,000 women from across 170 counties of the World. Please feel free to explore all the learning, sharing, connections/networking and many other resources that abound on the website. For a start, I would like to suggest that you read the World Pulse User Guide. You can also make out time to read the inspiring stories of other community members, build up your friends lists by leaving your comments on journal posts you read, and also sending out friendship requests to members.

One more word for you- there is no one in the world without a form of disability, what is important is that there is ability in disability. You are already doing a great work and there are loads of amazing women and men in this community who you can inspire; and from whom you can also draw inspiration.

Please do check out the ongoing Women Weave the Web campaign, you are eligible to participate. I look forward to learning more about you through your writings. Together we can talk the talk, walk the talk, talk the walk and walk the walk.
