The Un-Silence of Women

"The treaty for the Rights of Women, formally known as the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), provides women in 170 countries around the world with the legal framework from which they can fight for their rights. The U.S. is the only industrialized nation not to have ratified this treaty."

"To date, only 1% of the worlds (Private) assets are held in name of women."

"In 2008, among Fortune 500 corporate CEO's, 12 are women."

"2/3 of the children who receive less than 4 years of education are girls."

These are just some of the staggering truths that have been displayed with such strength in Carol Turner's recently completed exhibit; "The Silence of Women." The exhibit represents her voice, and the voices of all those who have contributed. It is designed to encourage women to become involved, to work together, and to raise their voices.

You too have the opportunity to write a letter to young women.

To view this amazing exhibit, and to read the letters written to young women, visit http://silenceofwomen.org/

Asante Sana.
