Thank you Rehema for pointing

Thank you Rehema for pointing out that women in rural areas are disadvantaged in harnessing ICT for development. You also call upon women to embace ICT and learn from the women who are already benefiting from it. I boldly agree that women should embrace ICT and shift from the mindset that it is for men.

Asante

Dear Rehema, You speak so

Dear Rehema,

You speak so well to the disadvantages that women in rural areas have in accessing and using technology. It does seem that access and a shift in mindset will go back and forth like a wave. We always have early adopters of technology and those who sign on later. Thank you for being an important advocate for access and this change of mindset in rural communities, for your voice needs to be heard at all levels of society, as close to home as among your family and friends and as far afield as governments and powerful NGOs. Your voice in the World Pulse community will add to the conversation and as such, help empower the women who may be your friends and neighbours. Please keep up the good work. .

Hello Rehema,You are

Hello Rehema,

You are right.... Technology has great potential to be effective… to empower us…us “THE WOMEN”. Technology can help such people increase their independence, communicate in more direct ways and express themselves as part of society. But why still in many countries, girls still lag behind boys in terms of access to and use of technology? Just because of barriers like gender discrimination, lack of confidence, language difficulties, low literacy and lack of money continue to prevent girls and young women from taking full advantage of technology. Thus we must strive to reduce these barriers and with the help from women like you...we can succeed!

Creating Change

Dear Rehema,

Your words are strong and encouraging. We are all stronger for knowing that you are there, reminding us all that there is much to be done to ensure that all women have access to computers and to the information that we can gain through them. The rural women that you speak of have a strong ally in you. You have begun to be in touch with us world wide through your words, and at the same time you have not forgotten to speak about our sisters who remain isolated. Yes, we all have the right to knowledge. May the winds carry your call to women to dare to believe that they deserve this right. You have reminded us all again that we must together find ways to undo the barriers that still prevent equal access. Thank you for your work. I am glad to be in touch, and to know that you are there.

We won't back down!

Dear Binwa, you're so right about the situation faced by women in rural communities! I've found your perspective very refreshing and down to earth.
As you say, embracing the tool and won't be left behind is the key for change. And say it out loud, of course!
With people like you on board, we women of the world fighting for this equality, won't back down!!!

Stay strong!

I agree!

Women of all ages should have access to the internet and be able to use it to promote their ideas and solutions as you have! Congratulations on a great post! :-)

I am excited to read this essay after translation as many of the comments above speaking so highly of it.

In anticipation!

Rehema,

Thank you

Thank you Binwa for sharing. I agree that technology is a fantastic tool and does allow us to fight ignorance through information and knowledge. It also allows us to connect and find common ground with others that we may not have been able to. I also agree that women need to take advantage of this tool and raise their voices and experiences as well. Thank you so much for sharing.

Yes!

Hi Binwa,

You are so right. Working with and using technology is not just for men and it can be used to connect us, to learn, to teach and as this website shows - technology helps us to gain strength through the connections it enables. Thank you for your perseverance and your work with technology and for women! Keep it up : )
