Introducing myself and my journal

About Me:
I work for Camfed, an organization that works to end poverty in rural Africa by educating girls and investing in economic and leadership opportunities for them once they graduate. Prior to joining Camfed, I was a social issues journalist, and I focused primarily on women's issues. As a former member of the media, I'm well aware that there are a limited number of platforms open to diverse voices, so I'm very excited about the potential of Pulsewire.

My Passions:
nature, music, dancing, beautiful writing

My Challenges:
accepting uncertainty

My Vision for the Future:
A world where community, equality and justice are givens--everywhere

My Areas of Expertise:
girls' education, Africa, creative nonfiction

It really is amazing how we can all share ideas, dreams and stories, connecting across borders and cultures. I am so happy that you are a part of this wave and please don't hesitate to contact me if you have questions, or particular interests that I can steer you towards. We have amazing groups and members in our community. You might be interested in mamaAfrica's Rafiki club, where she is looking for penpals to write to women in rural Kenya to overcome illiteracy ( She is moving mountains on her own and is such an inspiration. She can be found at:

You might also be interested in connecting with SisterAngela who is a social entrepreneur who seeks to create sustainable, global, positive social change, particularly for women and girls of African descent. She can be found at

You are now a member of this vibrant community and I look forward to reading more about your passions, ideas, concerns and dreams. I know that you will find this to be a positive experience.
