Introducing myself and my journal: In A Beautiful Place

About Me:
My name is Rebecca, I'm currently a senior in high school, and I absolutely love to write. I keep a personal journal that I write in, and I am constantly writing down my ideas and discovering new things in this world. My other passions include reading, music, community service and running. I'm a part of my student council, marching and concert band, jazz band, and cross county and track teams.

I read and write as often as I can; I love it. I'm trying to read as often as I can (when I'm not busy with homework and extracurriculars) and I hope that one day, other people will pick up a novel that I wrote. I love marching band, jazz band, and concert band. I like to have opportunities to just play and express myself. I also love to listen to music - not just classical or jazz band - as I love rock, alternative, and indie music. I'm constantly listening to music, it is a part of my every day life. Oddly enough, I also have a passion for running. I joined my school track team freshman year - although I wasn't good at all and almost gave up - and have recently found a love and appreciation of running. It certainly isn't for everyone; it's a lot of hard work, determination, and patience. I've found it to be a good stress-reliever and creative outlet - and it's fun.
As of lately, I've gotten involved with a group called Spark540, which is run out of Salem, Massachusetts, and takes time every year to work towards achieving the 8 UN Millennium goals. I've always loved helping others, and this organization has connected me to people around the world, who I can share my stories with and learn about their stories as well. It is a fantastic opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. I hope that one day, my words can make an impact on people. For now, that means helping Spark540 fundraise in order to bring children in Senegal supplies to have a better education. I'm so excited to reach out and connect with other women on World Pulse. I've decided that this time in my life will best be spent absorbing as much knowledge as I can from others, and creating meaningful connections that will be beneficial not only to myself, but to others as well.

My Passions:
Writing, Playing music, serving others

My Challenges:
Overcoming fears, putting myself "out there"

My Vision for the Future:
To be a writer, and a good citizen

My Areas of Expertise:
Nothing yet, I'm hopefully going to college next year.

Hi Rebecca! Welcome!

Dear Rebecca,

I really enjoyed reading your introduction and found it to be thoughtful, wise, and inspiring. I am happy to see you have so many interests, goals, passions and personal strengths! It's great that you have these areas of competence that bring you so much joy and satisfaction--writing, running, music, and serving others--such a balanced, wholesome blend of interests that help make your life wonderful! I'm happy for you. :)

I can tell that you are a talented writer and I'm glad that you are so inspired to continue exploring writing! I'm sure that you will have a novel published one day. Your work with Spark540 sounds very interesting and I'd like to learn more about what this organization does. Rebecca, you don't have to wait until one day: your words are already having an impact! I know you'll love to connect with other women here and that you will both be inspired AND inspire others with the power of your words. Words can be very healing, as you know, and can bridge gaps and bring light to very dark places. Keep it up! I look forward to reading more from you.

Here's a link to the World Pulse "Getting Started" guide which will help familiarize you with networking with others here: http://worldpulse.com/pulsewire/about/guide

Best wishes to you and have fun at World Pulse!

Thank you

Thank you for the "Getting Started" guide! It was very helpful as I am trying to learn how to navigate my way around this site. I'm so excited to read other people's work, and learn from the other women here. I'm shocked that I've already gotten a response, having only just started up my account.

In regards to Spark540, you can check out the website! Spark540.org

Thanks again for your message!

You're welcome! I checked out

You're welcome!

I checked out the Spark540 website today and am very moved by this organization and its mission. I have two young sons (7 and 10) and very much want to help ignite their spark. It looks like this group gives you a nice sense of community and common purpose--the affirmation that we're "all in this together" and every single person has a purpose and part to play in bringing about positive change to the world. I love it!

Best wishes to you,
Susan
