Lack of Motherhood in the Village

Problems encountered by women from the MWENGA territory in South Kivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The majority of women from the ITOMBWE area do not receive assistance or have maternity wards while giving childbirth.
A large number of women give birth on their own, but others give birth in the fields while cultivating the fields, and others give birth on sidewalks. Everywhere, there are several women who die along with their newborns. Truly, there are powerless women and girls ; we always regret the lives of our mothers who reside in the village.
There is a lack of material and skilled work; for example, caesareans are made without any anesthesia, imagine what our mothers experience. In addition, their life expectancy lessens the farther away they live from the city.
After giving birth on the fields or in a location far away from a maternity ward, what do they do when they need to cut the umbilical cord? They use pieces of wood or scrapings of sugar cane, or even razor blades without any knowledge or any awareness of the life risks they could encounter.

Masoka, Merci pour ce récit,

Masoka,
