My Hijab (My head scarf )

Hijab defines who i am , but maybe not the way you are thinking. but what are you thinking now ?

I started wearing my Hijab when i was four years old or maybe earlier , a lot of people think either you are oppressed or you are very conservative.
if you ask me why i chose Hijab its because i worship GOD everyday in the way i dress , i grew up in a Muslim country but i never felt for a second that i can't speak up. or that i am oppressed i actually felt protected and loved by my religion.

I am not oppressed nor i am brain washed i am simply following my way of life.

Thank you for your voice!

Hi Maryam,

I just wanted to say thank you so much for sharing your voice with us! It is so important to break down the stereotypes people have of Muslim women and the Hijab, and you are doing that here with your words. It is truly appreciated!

I work with several young women, many of whom are Muslim, and living in the United States. Would you be interested in having a cultural exchange and writing back and forth with them?!

With respect,
