Most of the women in Kashmir especially the non-working class are too much absorbed in their roles as daughters, sisters, wives and mothers that they don't uncertain about their identities as a woman. The uncertainty of the identity snowballs into lack of confidence, low self-esteem and in reluctant.
"One of my neighbors invited me for a small gathering of women for an awareness-program. We were asked what is our self-identity. All women in our village were puzzled and totally mum what to say. That was the first hand experience when were told that despite our roles as mothers or wives we also hold a self-identity as a human which we need to explore," says Razia Hussain, a housewife from Srinagar, Kashmir.
