Love letter to End Violence

This letter is addressed to all the women who have been victims of domestic violence/rape/torture or any other form of violence.
Even though I have never met you, I have heard your stories either through documentaries and interviews. I have read your detailed descriptions of the pain, suffering, and humiliation that you experienced. It causes me great sadness to know that you were subjected to such horrifying acts of violence.
You blame yourself; you feel ashamed, thinking that you are the one who is responsible.
You have sullied the family honor. You are no longer "pure". You received what you deserve, they say.
Why? What have you done that warrants this kind of abuse? Because you have a right just as anyone else to express yourself? To feel empowered? To get an education? To provide a voice to other women? To organize grassroots movements to inspire other women so that they, too, can participate in your endeavors?

All I see in you when you speak is your courage and the strength of your spirit. You have made the brave decision to move forward and to embrace life. You inspire me and you make me believe that one day this senseless violence will end and that you will be recognized as an amazing and fearless individual. Please stay strong and know that we are here to listen and to support you!
