THE REAL VOICE

Her painful agonies had been silenced. She stood mutely amidst the crowd of known & unknown strangers who were ready to rip her integrity in minutes like a show of mockery and sarcasm.

One who stood in the verdict box of a court awaiting the call and decision of justice, or the one who proudly poses in the modern world of glamour, like a well-known celebrity? The eyes that penetrate through the dignified heart of a woman are same, the perspective of which is narrow and more gruesome.

She who awaits justice faces a volley of several unprecedented questions and goes through the hell of reliving the tragedy from which she has managed to survive and has gathered courage to speak. The whole course rips her veins and heart more and more, until she finally gets to hear, that there was no real justice. It was a mere show of mock games and trials, where she was just playing a role. People derived pleasure by discussing about the unseen facts and adding more unethical versions.

She remains thus, a statuette, mute and vulnerable in front of the whole of mankind, while every human watches her getting dishonored every second. She, who stands thus, isn’t weak nor is such, due to any lack of power in her.

She is in fact more powerful than the vulture that pounces on her in the sins of darkness, for she can stand back and fight her own struggle.

What she lacks is the “VOICE”.

The VOICE OF THE WOMAN, which has been silenced and made mute since ages by force, emotions, vulnerability, relations, society and duties.

What she needs today is her voice, her own voice to express her thoughts,to assert her presence , to announce her status, to speak aloud of herself.

Whether a girl is educated or uneducated, young or old, small or even a baby, the violence against each one of them exists and that too in a very cruel way.

Since centuries ,mankind has been undergoing continuous evolution but the psyche of man remained the same ie to suppress, exploit and dominate the ones who serve ,care and look after him. In order to satisfy the self ego, such people have sacrificed the lives, integrity and destiny of many women directly or directly.

To speak in the name of traditions, hype about the richness of culture is portrayed by such men who actually can stoop down to any level, yet shall have hypocrisy in their hearts and actions.

The patriarchal system of India since ages has been one reason for such an oppression and violence. Yet, it doesn’t give the right to offensively hurt another person physically or mentally. When we realize and try to understand the psychology of the domineers,we can only find that this all accounts to the satiation of the male ego.

Our ancient civilizations haven’t made us civilized,so its not the civilization or country that matters,it’s the mentality which is the real culprit.

Had their been laws or governance strict enough not to let them play such violent acts,or had there been a fear of the outcome of such acts, these wouldn’t have ever happened anywhere in this world.

What we need is to respect ourselves, even before others respect us. To believe in our thoughts, perspectives and ideas with confidence and self esteem. This belief in the self then will be the VOICE that can be heard by others when spoken loudly, confidently and convincingly.

1.The need for the hour is thus to “have a voice”, which shall be heard by one and all.
2.This Voice which will erupt from the core of their soul and shall speak for them.
3.To unify such uncountable voices to merge into one strong and powerful VOICE which shall represent each one of them.
4.To broadcast and make this unique VOICE reach millions and billions across the globe to make all aware that ,now the so considered weak gender are together in every step which shall fight against the violence and cruelty.

Thus I give my VOICE as,

“ Like the fragrance of a rose,
I shall diffuse in the air of your
Home and life…
Pluck me with care,
Else I shall prick thy skin…
For my petals may be silken and soft
Yet remember I have thorns which you haven’t seen…

Meaningful post !

....And, Soumya, your post has a manifestation of a woman's struggle and freedom - I use both words simultaneously - for, the vital element herein settles in the 'process' of eradicating invisibility: to provide 'The Real Voice' (as you have) to make visible the injustices, inequality, etcetra of the existing issues aimed and faced by women all around the world.
I particularly relished the contrasts and effects in your expression - aiming to bridge the spaces and offering dialogue as an extreme vital force to ignite and expand hope through distinctive understanding and addressing as a collective paradigm. The verse at the end is extremely dynamic - solidifying the necessity to expand, grow and evolve as women.

Of course, it is vital to note: your post is a significant contribution at World Pulse !

Thanks for the support

Thank you Shaheen for perfectly deciphering and hearing the voices beneath the words. The voice thus, always has been silent and invisible behind the veils and relations, entangling more until the voice is completely strangled. This contrast is the actual condition of women, which shows different colours around the corners of the world and at various strata of the society.
Yes ,its always through hope and belief ,that any struggle is won and so I wish the same here too as I speak on behalf of every woman.

Powerful words.......................

It is really disheartening that women and girls have continued to fall victim of the many ills that have become entrenched in our society. Your insight into this issue, which you creatively highlighted with your words is inspirational. Such powerful words can only come from a powerful woman, with a strong desire to liberate women from the shackles of the societal practices that subject and confine women to tragic conditions and grievous pains. You are that woman, Soumya and your strong and powerful VOICE represents each woman who have been silenced. I have no doubt that many women and girls will find their voices through you.

Keep speaking, your voice beams genuine hope!

Much love,
Greengirl

Many thanks

I am glad that you found my "Voice " to be strong enough to represent the whole of women community which has been confined to silence. Through my words I tried to depict the pain in picture of an issue which is even after the gruesome incident has happened never reduces nor diminishes, but the agony keeps on increasing.
I will be lucky if women can find their voices through mine or my words shall provide them with a ray of hope.

Thanks for your support and encouragement.

You're a True Wordsmith

Dear Soumya,

You packed so much intensity, meaning, and beauty into your prose that I had to read through a couple of times in order to absorb all that you wrote. The mission of empowerment through "voice" that you lay out at the end is fully embraced by the World Pulse community and it takes contributors like you to spread this mission beyond this community, where it's needed most.

One of my favorite lines was: "What she needs today is her voice, her own voice to express her thoughts,to assert her presence , to announce her status, to speak aloud of herself." It reads like a mantra that I, myself, would benefit from citing from time to time.

Best,
Erin

Truly thankful

Thanks dear Erin for welcoming my words and voice in the Worldpulse community which is doing great work in spreading the word around with dynamism.
Iam honoured that you liked the voice in my quote and could get connected to it.
If few words and thoughts of ours get through the hearts of some to remind them of their existence and confidence,I think we together as a women community here can bring a big change in the society and the world.

Best wishes,
Soumya

You are a strong voice!

You have poetically strong voice that can truly speak for women who don't have the courage to speak out. Continue to let your voice ring in all directions. Be there for the weak and puny, the oppressed and abused. You are a blessing to them!

Thanks

Thanks a lot Lydia for being here and listening to this voice. I feel honoured and touched that my voice is capable of speaking for the numerous weak and meek women. Iam happy that the voice reached another corner of teh world in Philippines and you could hear it so loudly. If on their behalf,I am able to present before the world the tale of their woes,I would feel blessed to have been a part of a righteous cause.

Once again thanks for your wishes,
Soumya

Deeply moving...

You have an amazing gift with words... I am inspired by your post Soumya.

I resonated with much of what you wrote. Particularly this paragragh:
"What we need is to respect ourselves, even before others respect us. To believe in our thoughts, perspectives and ideas with confidence and self esteem. This belief in the self then will be the VOICE that can be heard by others when spoken loudly, confidently and convincingly."

I have noticed in my own life, that as I believe in myself and love myself more deeply that my voice is stronger. I am more courageous in my life. It all starts there. I am much more available and loving in all that I do and all my interactions with others.

Thank-you for writing these beautiful words... and being an inspiration to me.
In appreciation,
Grace

Iam overwhelmed

Dear Grace,
Iam overwhelmed by your response, that these simple words inspired you and had a positive effect on your thoughts as well. It is true that untill and unless we have conviction in ourself and we hold our self with esteem, people and nobody else can give us that respect nor will they hear our voice.
It is the confidence and our strong belief that shall make others listen to us .and together this voice shall be a stronger and an intense one.
Iam humbled that the words resonated and they remind you of this thought .

Best wishes,
Soumya

Amazing words

Thank you so much for sharing these amazing words. I am inspired by what you've done. I especially like this quote, "The VOICE OF THE WOMAN, which has been silenced and made mute since ages by force, emotions, vulnerability, relations, society and duties.

What she needs today is her voice, her own voice to express her thoughts,to assert her presence , to announce her status, to speak aloud of herself." I couldn't agree more. Keep up the good work!

Thank you

Thank you dear Cassie for hearing "voice of the woman". I think it is the voice that has been silenced due to such forces ,natural or forcibly and we as women have succumbed to the pressures of it. It needs a vent to voice its opinion, the opinion of a mother ,daughter, wife and friend, who gives birth, cares, nurtures and is concerned for everyone.
This voice if heard, shall be a sense of freedom to her a real achievement.

Best wishes,
Soumya

Poignant words

Dear Soumya,

Thanks for this bold and honest piece. I believe that girls and women everywhere must speak out for themselves and others, emphatically and courageously. Our space will be easily snatched but rarely given.

YOUR voice

Soumya,

What a mentor you are with your poetic words!

“ Like the fragrance of a rose,
I shall diffuse in the air of your
Home and life…
Pluck me with care,
Else I shall prick thy skin…
For my petals may be silken and soft
Yet remember I have thorns which you haven’t seen…

I see someone else above copied these same words -- they are powerful. Keep your poetry going - it speaks volumes and captures all you say about voice.

Warmly, Frances

Thanks for listening

Dear Frances,
It s really encouraging to hear your words when you say ,my verse spoke volumes about the real voice. I am glad that I have been able to communicate and share the pain and ache of the real voice which has been in silence .If few words of mine can bring a voice lying underneath into a stronger one,I shall be really touched.
For the real mentor is the one who guides us through his wisdom and shows us the true path to walk on,
Best wishes,
Soumya
