TBTT, L'ÄME DECHIREE

Qui es-tu violence ?
Une anti valeur certes;
« JEURI », est ton nom en swahili;
D’où viens-tu ?
De quel pays es-tu ressortissant ?

Tu as un pouvoir qui détruit, une force qui dévore;
un fléau qui gangrène notre société;

Violence, tu as engendré détresse et chagrin,
Ce la n’a pas suffit,
Tu as appauvrie nos familles et décimé nos villages.
Tu es sans pitié;

Le traumatisme né de toi nous a déshumanisé;
Conséquence mes amis, c’est la nation qui anéantie;
Conséquence, conséquence mes frères,
Ce sont les couples qui se disloquent;
Conséquence mes paires, c’est l’isolement, le désespoir, la dépression;
Conséquence, conséquence chers compatriotes,
C’est une société en crise, sans justice ni loi;
Conséquence camarades, c’est une société qui se meurt;
Conséquence, conséquence congénères,
C’est une société violée et violentée au gré de vent;

Mais, où es-tu violence ? Source de notre malheur;
Où es-tu pour que je te maudisse;
Où es-tu pour que je te lapide;
Où es-tu pour que tu subisses un coup fatal;

A cause de toi, les foyers n’ont ni toit, ni chaleur;
A cause de toi, les pères sont humiliés, les enfants sans sourire;

Mais qui t’a conçu violence ?
Maudits soient les seins qui t’ont nourrit;
Vas -t’- en, ta place est en enfer;
Vas-t’- en, pour que les femmes revivent;

TBTT, The Soul Torn Apart

Who are you violence?
Certainly an anti-value;
JEURI is your name in Swahili;
Where do you come from?
From what country have you come forth?

You have a power that destroys, a strength that devours;
Woe to you, you are a social monster,
A scourge that gives gangrene to our society;

Violence, you have brought about distress and chagrin
That has not been enough
You have impoverished our families and decimated our villages
You are without pity;

The trauma born from you has dehumanized us,
Consequently my friends, it is the nation that is destroyed
Consequently, consequently my brothers,
It is couples that are breaking up
Consequently my pairs, it is isolation, despair, depression
Consequently, consequently dear compatriots
It is a society in crisis, without justice or law;
Consequently comrades, it is a society which is dying;
Consequently, consequently like people,
Is the society violated and made violent at the spite of the wind;

But, where are you violence? Source of our misery;
Where are you so that I can curse you; Where are you so that I can stone you;
Where are you so that you undergo a fatal blow;

Because of you, homes have neither roofs nor warmth,
Because of you, fathers are humiliated, children have no smiles;

But who conceived you violence?
Cursed be the breasts that nourished you;
Where are you so that I can bury you without grief?
Go away, your place is in hell;
Go away so that the women revive;
Go away, go away to the devil, so that the DRCongo is born again.

Imagining Equality

Courageous

Anne,
I can feel your powerful, courageous and beautiful heart. Your strength to speak out and write this poem is inspiring to me! I am curious... have a written anything, or do you have a personal vision for what you desire to see in your life, your country?

Thank-you for speaking out!
In appreciation,
Grace
