Workshop on the Use of New Computer Technology

We attended a training session on the use of new computer technology organized by World Pulse in partnership with the mediation center Maman Shujaa in Bukavu. The session was led by Mme. Neema Namadamu, the center’s director.

The training session focused on several essential points:
• The history of the center and its founder
• The necessity to familiarize one’s self with new technology and computers
• The risks and advantages of new technology
• How the World Pulse site works and its impact on women’s live all over the world

After learning about these points, the instructor showed the participants how to connect to the Internet. Everyone who was invited decided to become members of the site after what they had learned on the first day.

The participants responded to a questionnaire evaluating the activities of the day.
1. What did you learn about the activities at Maman Shujaa Center?
2. What did you learn about the World Pulse site?
3. What are you going to do with the new information that you just learned?
4. Are there other things you would like to learn more about that were not covered here?
5. What did you think of the teaching and presentation methods employed today?
6. Do you have any suggestions or comments?

Each participant responded to this questionnaire, and in doing so we realized how many people were still unaware of the World Pulse site and its importance. Fortunately they were able to discover it and promised to tell other members of their own organizations about it. Mme. Élisabeth Fundi from Uvira was happy to learn how to connect with other members. She works for an international organization, ASVI Uvira, more than 100 kilometers from the Maman Shujaa She has been connected with Bukavu groups since 2012. She connected several women from UVira to the World Pulse community by sending messages to the center in Bukavu. In Bukavu, they were able to open new web accounts. But because of what she learned today at the training session, she will be able to start opening web accounts in Uvira, and will no longer have to pass through the Maman Shujaa center in Bukavu. Although she will no longer have to come to Bukavu, she dislikes the fact that the women in Uvira lack a similar center where they can use the Internet.

FELICITATION

Merci
