Compelling and heartbreaking

In the young girl's dreams, I see the dreams of women everywhere — a desire to be safe, for comfortable and clean living quarters, to earn a good living wage, so that they can eat healthy and provide for their families. It is heartbreaking that because of the war, her dreams to continue with her music and to live safely have been broken.

Refugees or displaced peoples tend to be thought of as numbers rather than as human beings. Thank you for putting a face on the Syrian women refugees in such a personal and powerful way.

Tomorrow's events depends on today's action and so let us all not wait but come together in a common effort to serve humanity and transform the world. Today's problems and solutions are interconnected and it is only through mutual respect of different perspectives, cultures, and backgrounds that we can bring about peace.

A wonderful piece, Shahd. Salaam.

Dear Janice,

Your comments are always encouraging and I love the way you see the importance of taking an action. I hope I could create longer videos to illustrate more and share more, because I could count an endless number of demands women like Benahi has. While we are enjoying the improvement and investment in our cities, dreams are being taken away.

Heart wrenching! I hope this

Heart wrenching! I hope this young girl will use her relative safety with her grandparents to educate herself and create a plan of action. Her youthful good looks will open many doors, but she must know what to ask for once the doors are open. Music is a wonderful tool for opening the spirits of others, but very seldom pays the bills.

You've done a great job, Shahd!

Dear Shahd,

I've already commented on Facebook regarding your piece but thought of leaving a message here as well.

I absolutely love this video! Your narration is excellent. You sounded like an expert news reporter. Other than that, your introduction drew me in to watch the video till the end.
