Rural Women in Difficulty

In the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, North and South Kivu in particular, women have so many problems on which they do not have the means to find solutions themselves. In our village the women do not have the right to speak in the house, which is a great danger in conjugal life because the dialogue between husband and wife is a pillar which supports the life of married people.

So in this village it is the woman who is the head of the house. The wife wakes up very early in the morning to prepare food for her children and especially for her husband. After the wife goes to the field to to do work. She goes home around 6 pm and is tired. She begins again to prepare and manage her house without forgetting the work she must do as a wife.

Several months after, the wife goes to the field to do hoeing while her husband stays stays in the neighborhood while drinking, playing marbles and other things. The day of harvest, the wife leaves with her children to the fields for two or three days. The father only gives the order to his wife to share these harvests equitably.

He leaves to sell his portion in order to pay for his drinks, and he tells his wife to sell her portion to take care of the children. If the wife argues, her husband hits her and makes her keep quiet. If she continues, he is going to bring another woman who is going to replace her! Then the wife remains calm and silent.

There are also risks when the wife goes to the field alone and her husband stays at home. She is going to easily get raped because the Eastern part is still unsafe. Therefore, let us support these women who are in trouble.

Bonjour Ariane Moza

Bonjour Ariane Moza Assumani,

Votre voix m'a appris beaucoup.

Bon courage,
Jelyn
