Fighting Against All Types of Violence towards Young Girls

The violences that young girls are subject to has been a long-lasting issue in societies, tribes, and ethnic groups because of the way a girl is perceived in these communities.

For different reasons, some say that girls are considered as merchandise (because of the dowery) so that boys get money to pay for their schooling expenses. After having been victims of many things, we need to realize the severity of the situation we are in, and as girls from different congolese tribes, we need to unite to fight against this violence.

Here are some types of violences:
-sexual violence
-domestic violence: having the girl work like a maid in the house
-violence at work
-considering girls incapable of doing certain jobs
-not considering the girl as part of the community, for example in my tribe, the Banyamulenge, if the parents decide to send their daughters to school, they are frowned upon, telling them that daughters are to marry off, when they are married off the only thing the family will be given in exchange will be a cow.

We are tired of this violence, girls are children like boys and should be equal to them. Girls should be able to do the things boys can do.

We demand that all leaders of African countries including the Congo find ways to put an end to all sorts of violence towards girls.

We can propose a couple things we find appropriate to fight against this violence:
-Take girls and women into consideration
-Know that girls around are equal opportunities to boys.
-Emphasize the fact that girls are useful for the congolese society
-Educating girls is as important as boys
