TO ACT AGAINST ALL FORMS OF VIOLENCE COMMITTED AGAINST YOUNG WOMEN

For a long time young women have been victims of different forms of violence and that because they are by nature female. The young woman has never enjoyed rights like the young man. Above all from the point of view of education the young woman has spent most of her time doing housework, going to the fields,… while the young man rests and goes to school. She was unable to study and if she complained to her father he told her that the school for a young woman is the kitchen. She also couldn’t choose her fiancé or participate in the administration of the property of the family; she could never inherit the assets of her parents. She was truly marginalized.

Let's look at the history of a young woman of 14 years called Florence, orphaned by her mother and father at the age of four years. Upon the death of her parents, she was raised by her maternal aunt who made her grow and study up until 11 years old and who then accused her of witchcraft and threw her out of the house. She was taken in by her maternal uncle and there she’s treated like a slave, she does all the housework; she doesn’t go to school and yet the other children of her uncle go to school. The life that she leads is truly miserable. Upon the marriage of the 12th daughter of her uncle, her cousin, she was sent as a maid until the present. So, at 14 years old, she lives is a slave without a salary, without hope for one day going to school and improving her life. This young woman truly suffers and needs our help, all of us for whom the sun is shining in our lives once more.

Here in our country there are various testimonials which reveal how the young woman undergoes various sorts of violence everywhere. For example there aresome young women who work as sex slaves. Who have undergone sexual violence and then been thrown out of their families and if by chance they become pregnant it becomes an agony for them and from there they move into prostitution, they become maids, firewood carriers or conveyors, babysitters,… and she who had the luck to study and finish school can’t find a job and she hides herself in commerce. education, and also in forced marriage…REALLY, IT IS AWFUL!

Acting against all forms of violence against young women should be the work and the concern of the entire world in order to make their lives better. We demand:
Of parents: avoid discrimination between the young man and the young woman and know that a young woman can do everything any young person can do.
Ensure scholarship of all children without distinction, listen to them and help them.
Fearlessly denounce all perpetrators of violence and avoid arrangements with friendly ones.

Of young women: wake up and prove your courage by strongly denouncing perpetrators of violence
Dedicate yourself to your studies with courage and perseverance.
Of the government: ensure the education of all young people in general without distinction of gender, as it should be
Make examples of and punish strongly all perpetrators of violence
Create mentoring centers for the formation and support of young women who’ve been victims of violence
Apply the law as it is written without distinction of social class Create jobs for women

Of all society: Become aware and collaborate to put an end to all sorts of violence committed against young women.

Notre role

Bon weekend,

Cecile
