INSECURITY IN OUR VILLAGES

Our mamas in our villages suffer a lot because of insecurity. Peace is the key to development in a country. Without peace, nothing can be done. We can define peace as the absence of war, the absence of conflict, etc. Yet the rural woman needs all sorts of things for her future, she who is alone with her children. She needs a healthy environment to live her life. When she doesn’t have peace and security, she cannot work, she cannot farm. Yet it’s the woman who feeds the town. Without her there wouldn’t be any agricultural production to serve everyone. Women must have peace and security. You know that when we are at peace, we develop better. The woman must farm her fields but seeing that she does not have peace, she doesn’t stay in the village and if she is in the village, she cannot leave because it is not safe. Even to go to the toilet we cannot go in peace.

Here in the province of South Kivu reigns a gang of criminals called “kabanga”; their trait being to strangle a person with a rope. This has become a bad state of affairs in Bukavu. According to people and a false belief, killing someone makes you money. If you have a small part of this rope, everything that you do turns out well and gives you security and promotion. We ask our government and the competent authorities to please take charge of their population.

Courage!

Courage,
Evelyn
