Hi comrades,
This is the link to my module 4 assignment. It was a very challenging assignment. to begin with the work i had initially planned to cover could not work out as the community is so hostile and can not allow strangers to interview them. Then i proceeded with my plan B. Everything went well till when I was editing, i noted that I captures video using portrait instead of landscape. Kindly forgive me on this. It was not easy for me to reschedule interviews the second round but I have now learnt my lesson.

This article is part of a writing assignment for Voices of Our Future a program of World Pulse that provides rigorous new media and citizen journalism training for grassroots women leaders. World Pulse lifts and unites the voices of women from some of the most unheard regions of the world.

The Message..............

The courage exhibited by your lead respondent, who was a victim is very compelling. Her story is a sad reminder of the many stories of, particularly, child brides who more often than not are affected by this grave health issue. It is quite disheartening that victims are often abandoned to their fate. The root cause of the problem must be tackled holistically and I cannot but echo that preventive measures should be projected to save women the traumatic experience that is linked to Fistula.

Anyone who has insight into or about what Fistula is will definitely agree with me that the message is very straight forward, and it needs to be heard and propagated. The message behind your story drowned everything you may want to think didn't go right.

Kudos and much love,

Tackling the root cause of Fistula

Hi Greengirl,
Thank you for your insightful comment on the issue of fistula, Yes causes such as early marriages, FGM and poverty should be addressed to spare women from such dehumanizing act. Regards

Ayunnie, the way you captured the video - landscape or portrait - doesn't make it less value!
You speak about the problem people prefer not illuminate. Doing this you take off the veil of fear and misunderstanding, and this is your greatest achievement.

Sending to you my warmest greetings,

Hi sis, I love your work--

Hi sis,

I love your work-- clear vision, clear voice and straight to the point. You really did a great job to be able to get such a lead respondent. She has lived above the stigma, speaking openly of her experience and encouraging others to come out and get medication. A lot of women who have VVF in my community hardly come to the open.
I am touched.

Well done.

I am touched

Hi Celine,
What an encouraging comment my sister o. I amhumbled by the way you described the lead respondent. I totally agree that women will move to greater heights when they accept where they are and what happened to them and then forge forward. we are conquerors and nothing can put down a woman who is strong wheeled. This is why we are here in WP to encourage women to speak out, heal and touch others in the process.
Be blessed my dear

Wonderful Work !

Dear Ayunnie,

No need for any apologies! This is a touching, highly informative and meaningful, important piece of work. All those you interviewed are excellent choices; well spoken and so appealing. The dear woman who is featured is someone I'd like to hug -- sweet soul! She brings out my empathy and will surely have that effect on everyone who views this work.

I am glad to understand what fistula is, as many other people will be. I trust that many others will see and appreciate this video and that it will spur them on to action!

With Appreciation,

Sarah Whitten-Grigsby

sad :(

Eunice, this is a very sad topic, but it is so courageous of you to address it, and for Judy to speak about her experience.

best regards,
