The Sacred Place Where Life Begins | Gwich'in Women Speak screenings

After long three years, my short documentary "The Sacred Place Where Life Begins | Gwich'in Women Speak" is finally done! In this film, women of the Gwich’in nation speak out to protect what they call “The Sacred Place Where Life Begins” from oil development. Also known as the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, the Gwich’in way of life depends on this sacred land. The women share their unique perspectives on this environmental issue and inspire audiences around the world to action.

My goal is to screen the film at as many film festivals and events around the country and the world as possible. Please contact me with opportunities to screen and distribute the film.

Here are two film festivals where my film will be screening:

October 2013

Native Spirit Film Festival - 10:30 p.m. Wednesday October 16th, 2013 at School of Oriental and African Studies - London, United Kingdom

November 2013

American Indian Film Festival -  12 p.m. Saturday November 2nd, 2013 at Delancey Street Theater - San Francisco, USA

If you are in the area, please come watch the film to hear voices of Gwich'in women.

Thank you!

Screening around the US

Miho, what an inspiring project. I wish you much success in getting it screened.

I wonder if you know about Gathr. It is an online platform whereby people can request the screening of a movie that ordinarily would not be screened in their area. You need to have about 125 people sign up to say they would like to buy tickets and if you reach that number, people's credit cards are then charged and the tickets issued. Gathr screenings can only happen if a minimum number of people reserve tickets before a screening request expires.

http://gathr.us/

Once registered, on every screening page you'll find an update that shows you the number of current reservations, the number of additional reservations needed to tip the screening, as well as how much time remains before that screening request expires. When enough people reserve tickets to a screening before time expires, the screening takes place. If the minimum number of reservations is not met, the screening does not take place and nobody is charged.

I hope this is helpful in getting word about your movie and its inspiring topic. All the best,
Janice

Hi

Hi Mihoalda,

Although I do not know where you would take this for exposure, it is such a lovely piece that I had to write you to wish you good luck and to tell you I was very very moved by your film. You have such a soft, gentle touch to your work which increases a persons vulnerability and interest in this issue. Again, thank you.
