We women from the eastern DRCongo wish for our peace back from the warlike values that have violated it

All the women of the world, let’s march towards peace. All of humanity aspires to live in peace, for living in peace implies being at peace with God, with yourself, with others, and with your surroundings. What many people ignore are the values of peace that grow against warlike values such as exclusion, intolerance, not respecting a person’s rights, and destroying the environment. Isn’t this ignorance at the root of so much of the general suffering in the world and the Congo in particular?
In the case of our country specifically, intermittent wars have destroyed friendly relations between neighboring countries. The most vulnerable ones in this situation are young people around the age of 15, young girls, and women. Our motto for our organization for peace, OSODI Congo (“l’œuvre social de développement intégré,” Social Work for Integrated Development) is peace and nonviolence. Peaceful cohabitation brings human beings closer together.
We call to women and the Mama Shujaa: let us fight for our broken peace, let us continue towards lasting peace and hope for our country of the Congo.

The Congo is shaken by all kinds of conflict and violence. OSODI proclaims its idea of peace as a communal and supreme wellbeing for humanity, a wellbeing for both men and women, young girls and boys alike. This peace has no war, looting, raping, or legalized violence, but rather respect for a person’s rights. The women of OSODI proclaim the values of non-violence, dialogue, forgiveness, understanding, truth, connections with the people, and responsible democracy, and not of passiveness, fear, not speaking out, insecurity, war, hate, or murder. The objective of the women in South Kivu is to educate the people in the Eastern Congo about peace, reconciliation, and non-violence, and to support women’s efforts for peace, non-violence, cohabitation, and tolerance. We act for collective peace.

The word “peace” in the languages of the Congo:
In Kikongo: ngemba
In Lingala: boboto
In Swahili: amani
In Mashi: murhula
The women of the Congo are tired of violence, looting, insecurity, famine, and displacement.

L'ignorance
