The Women of the DR of Congo Want Peace

Women have become targets in war. Every time war arises, women are subjected to violence. War and violence are no longer acceptable solutions, and they are certainly not the only possible solutions.

Violence exists in all its forms: sexual violence, domestic violence, and especially gender-based violence. We, the women, say ‘no’ to war in eastern Congo and ‘no’ to the violence committed against women and girls here in eastern Congo. Why do girls and women suffer in this way? Why are we discriminated against and treated like dirt? We search for peace, not war. We avoid massacres, stigmatization and all types of violence against the women and girls of eastern Congo.

The women of Congo want peace. We say ‘stop’ to the violence committed against women and children during times of war. In eastern Congo, sadists have grown richer while thousands of families are plunged into mourning. It is time that we, the women of the world, raise our voices as one to put an end to this tragedy. We want lasting peace in our country.

Merci encore!
