Women's contribution to peace restoration in DRC

The origin of the insecurity in DRC are twofold:
- Internal Order: some Congolese are at the basis of the insecurity because they have formed armed militias, are kidnappers, they have built road blocks, they charge illegal taxes, and they accuse one another and abandon guns in communities. When they proceed to demobilization, there is minor or no support to the demobilised. There are irregularities at and within borders, irregularities in the definition of nationality, no strategic sharing of leadership position in the government, lack of consideration of others. There are no offers in the state administration, there is impunity, corruption of all kinds and there is a lot of violence that leaves no space for girls and women. There is also a lack of employment for the youth.
- External Order: Signed international conventions but not reviewed or adapted to prevailing circumstances resulting in clause irregularities with a lot of technical vocabulary that causes confusion.
Following are strategies that girls and women should suggest:
- Girls and women should become aware of the situation they are in as a result of power and culture
- Girls and women should break the social barriers for their integration in all administrative and political opportunities by being sensitized on various themes such as gender-based and sexual violence as they are direct and first victims
- Girls and women should lead advocacy activities for their presence in strategic decision-making positions
- Girls and women should share information on their rights and duties as citizens
- Women's groups should denounce violations and irregularities that lead to the detriment of the population
- Girls and women in rural and urban areas should be literate and educated
- Woman and girls should participate in the decision making committees in national and international conventions
- Women and girls should be given opportunities to participate in MONUSCO various security meetings
