Violence against women as an outcome of the war in Eastern Congo

Women have become objects of war because every time a war breaks out, women experience violence in all its forms: sexual, gender based violence, domestic violence, especially gender- specific violence. We say no to the war in Eastern Congo and no to violence against women and girls here in Eastern Congo. Why do we (women) have to suffer like this? Why do we get discriminated and treated like dirt, yet we seek peace not war? We want to stay away from stigma, massacres and all forms of violence against women and girls of the Eastern Congo.
Peace we need you, peace come quench our thirst we have for you, peace we are very much looking for you because it is only with you that our sufferings will stop here in Eastern Congo. Here is how the M23 has brought pain here in the East: when they come, they loot and rape women and girls. They do horrible things to women and girls. Horrible things that have become a sort of weapon. Women, who would support their country, have become war objects.
We are asking for your support in the fight against all forms of violence against women here in Eastern Congo. As members of the OSODI association, through Mama Shujaa, we would like to thank you for helping us expose, through the internet, what is happening. Without this, we can’t do anything, we are very grateful. Personally, I would like to really thank you. May God bless and guide you in your work.
