Introducing myself and my journal: Smile First

About Me:
Good day global community members,

I am both excited and thrilled to see a global community of women, and for women, that uses a tool like the web to break down boundaries, build capacity and community, and share our joint experience as women on this planet. Please reach out, and I will reach back, as there is nothing but good that can come from a world more aware of itself, and people more understanding of each other's experiences.

My Passions:
Architecture and shelter as a basic human right, sustainability and energy, intentional development, urban planning, my dog- Denali

My Challenges:
Doing it all in one lifetime, let alone one day; feeling adequate; defining success; learning to be me.

My Vision for the Future:
A world where each generation respects and learns from the previous, but still keeps its eye toward the sky, and its heart open to its neighbors.

My Areas of Expertise:
Sustainability, development, economics, the built environment

Buenos dias,

I would like to extend my appreciation for the warm and quick response of the PulseWire community, as I have been a member no long than a day and I already have received some wonderful and insightful responses from like-minded folks. I look forward to building capacity in the PulseWire community over the coming weeks and months, and collaborating with uniquely diverse and passionate people.

I have recently posted a rather interesting proposition on the Resource ExChange that I would love for you all to take a look at. Marisa McGilliard and I are starting research on a photo documentary that will explore the connection between empowerment and sports. We will be telling the success stories of projects, programs, initiatives, and organizations who have found a meaningful connection between empowerment and sport for girls and women throughout the world.

Be on the lookout!
We will be launching a website shortly related the this photo documentary that will give a brief synopsis of our efforts to date, and will bring some much needed context to this usually overlooked and undervalued topic.

Until then....
You can read a little more about the project on my posting in the Resource ExChange under funding. Query using "Sport" and you should find it. Also, feel free to check out my inspiration on this topic! I am working with two instrumental non-profit organizations that have been of seminal importance to my work. They are:

ReSport - The Council for Sustainable Sport -

Game Changers (A collaboration between Architecture for Humanity and Nike)

I hope you will check them out.
