The consequence of the war in the North-Kivu/Goma regions

War is nothing but misery, desolation, poverty and regression. It lets people carve Eternal hatred into each other’s souls. Especially when you have welcomed a stranger with open arms and given them refuge after an evil act which has caused suffering to their brothers, and after a while this person starts claiming things that aren’t theirs - that’s the worst.

The consequences:

Rape, sexual violence, secret killings, mass displacement of populations to unknown destinations against their will, rural exodus, illegal emigration… this is the cause of endemic illnesses, food and drinking water shortages, and even insufficient medical care and the premature deaths of women and children.

Children study in conditions that are unsuitable for educating tomorrow’s elite.

Loss of property, high illiteracy levels, malnutrition and under-nourishment and the like – all of these things constitute an abominable crime against humanity.

Misfortune to those who finance all of these endless wars; they will answer for their actions before the Everlasting.

Possible solutions:

Stop imposing forced cohabitation between permanent residents and emigrants. We must inform the population to make them understand the advantages of living with others, and above all, teach people that we are all visitors on Earth. Develop sanction mechanisms for crimes committed during the war, to avoid acts of vengeance and score-settling, popular justice and hatred between populations. Fight for full development, because as they say, “development is the new name for peace”.
