Introducing myself and my journal
Lianna Reed is a senior at Bryn Mawr College majoring in Political Science and French, with a focus on sub-Saharan Africa and Peace, Conflict, and Social Justice. She grew up in rural Vermont. During the summer of 2013, Lianna worked as an intern with the Human Rights Program at The Carter Center, helping organize the Human Rights Defenders Forum on religion and women’s rights, translating documents and researching human rights violations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In 2012-2013 Lianna spent seven months living in France, refining her French, volunteering on organic farms in Normandy, and studying political geography and the African Sahel at the Sorbonne in Paris. In high school Lianna started a chapter of Rotary Interact and established ties to an organization founded by Sudanese refugees that was building schools for young women in southern Sudan. Lianna is an avid photographer and traveler and loves to laugh.
