The Hidden beauty of the DRC

The DRC is sometimes considered the worst place on earth for women because of violence against women. But despite this, the DRC also has something hidden, the ability to promote its natural resources.

Despite the fact that women are raped, they manages to denounce the worst of what happens in the world. These are women leaders and other organized women from different local and national women’s organizations who struggle day and night without tiring to bring awareness to the abuses against women and the promotion of women’s human rights. But also for the moment in the local and central government we find women working in management, business and other public enterprises, something we have not seen in years.

Despite these difficulties for women the Congolese community remains united. For example, in the case of a theft or an attack against a neighbor there is an intervention of the surrounding population given that poverty is a rising problem. There is also a demonstration of mutual assistance of the united Africans.

The women whether raped or humiliated still works and has the courage to survive for their families. She asks for credit from an organization so that she can have a loan and begin a business just to gain a little capital. And there are some that become porters because they have no way to access information for other jobs. She does not limit her life despite her difficulties.

Those that bring joy and inspiration in my life are the good number of young girls today who are educated and who give hope to become women leaders in the future and change the lives of women. Even illiterate women offer a chance to their children to become educated. Also in marriage women are always fighting for the adoption of a law of common property in the household so that she can increase the family income.

In our villages, African solidarity cannot be found elsewhere and is also a richness to preserve. No one can gather from the fields alone. It is all the neighbors that work together and afterwards the harvest is shared. Those that help one another in times of difficulty in life are the prayer. The demand for advice from the elders is that they help us from their own experiences and mutual assistance. The demand for financial support from the associations that help us to become financially independent.

-the education of girls
-the fight against violence against women
-the creation of organizations for women
-the support of women in power and management positions in the country
-the support of women
-the solidarity amongst Africans is there, the beauty is protected, nourished and magnified.
