"Watch, now, how I start the day in happiness, in kindness…"

"Horton," the egret who visits our house every day !

Dear VOF Members,

Here is a lovely poem for each of you, especially anyone who is lately feeling the need for reasons to get up early in the morning!

With Joy & Gladness,
- Sarah

Why I Wake Early ( by Mary Oliver)

Hello, sun in my face.
Hello, you who make the morning
and spread it over the fields
and into the faces of the tulips
and the nodding morning glories,
and into the windows of, even, the
miserable and crotchety–

best preacher that ever was,
dear star, that just happens
to be where you are in the universe
to keep us from ever-darkness,
to ease us with warm touching,
to hold us in the great hands of light–
good morning, good morning, good morning.

Watch, now, how I start the day
in happiness, in kindness.

Wow

Though I have just seen it (4pm) it has lifted me up. Thank you for these moving words.

"It takes the hammer of persistence to drive the nail of success."

Dear Grace . . .

…you're welcome. This poet, Mary Oliver, has an exquisite, deeply moving way with words.

And by the way, the bird in the photo is a crane, rather than an egret - my mistake!

I wish you comfort and joy,

- Sarah
