". . . the valiant of spirit . . .

Dear Each & All,

Ghandi said, "Strength of numbers is the delight of the timid. The valiant in spirit glory in fighting alone."

Nothing is truer than this: that we in VOF are all working together but that each of you is also fighting alone.

And such valiant spirits are exhibited by our Correspondents with every piece of writing !

My Correspondent has recently quoted a woman who advises journalists experiencing trauma to resort to the serenity of nature whenever possible. That is, rather than resorting to anything nerve-numbing, resort to the things that are nerve-calming, such as the sound of the ocean, or of your cat purring, or of a bird with a beautiful song . . . or listen to music that soothes your savaged soul. Anything 'organic' that reminds you of who you are at the most primal, comforting level.

It may seem grossly inadequate for traumatic times, but it can renew you, even if only a little, tiny bit at a time.

With Loving Support,

strong words

these are important words as many times the work we do is really stressful and you need to take time off and refocus least you just become bitter about the state of the world.

ps-that is an interesting picture

we may be powerless to stop an injustice but let there never be a time we fail to protest.

So True, Dear Pela

Dear Pela,

It is so true that we can become bitter or at the very least completely, desperately out of fuel. If you have the time and inclination, libudsuroy's Module 2 assignment is the piece that quotes sources from two books that might be worthwhile reading, both about the extreme emotional difficulties faced by women journalists.

I send you extra love and . . . yes, isn't that a funny picture?

With Strength,

Serenity of Nature

Thank you Sarah. Nature is so nerve calming and i totally agree with you. I went to the village last week and I feel more refreshed now. Breathing the fresh air, swimming in the lake and eating the traditional food was so tantalizing and I feel rejuvenated now.

Thank you fort his reminder!

Yes, Dear Ayunnie!

Dear Ayunnie,

That makes perfect sense; that breathing fresh air, swimming in the lake and eating your traditional foods has helped to ground you, to re-anchor your soul and remind you of the magnificent woman you are. Very wise of you to take the time to do this, and may you do it again, when the need arises!

With Love and Support,

- Sarah

The Wonders of Nature

The picture is amazing! It's better seen than heard about.

Nature is simply invigorating! More often than not, when I feel stressed up, I usually opt for a walk (so I can take in some fresh and soothing air) or visit my small home garden and just observe and relish the miracle that the budding/ thriving plants depict. Both routines have a way of calming me and making me ME again!

It is always a worthwhile experience to observe, appreciate and live in harmony with nature.

Thank you Sarah for reminding us of the wonders of nature and how so much we need nature and nature needs us. Isn't that form of relationship defined as SYMBIOTIC? Yes, everyone of us also needs one another to forge ahead. I can barely wait to read libudsuroy's post as suggested.

Sarah Whitten-Grigsby's picture

Yes, Symbiotic!

Dear Greengirl,

You are so right, there is symbiosis between us at World Pulse -- magnificently articulated by you.

And you're so right that routines calm us and ground us.

I smile whenever I see your name and look forward to what you have to say.

With Love and Support,
