Do More..Dig Deep

The situation in Syria became illogical, it destroys all what we ever knew about the meaning of humanity.

A heartbreaking human tragedy. Everything is targeted in my country Syria. About 6.8 million Syrians need humanitarian aid which means 1 of every 3 Syrians. By December the number of Syrian refugees will become 3.5 million. The war in Syria is haunting people to the neighboring countries, making the Zaatari camp in Jordan the second largest refugees camp in the world.

Dear Hummingbird

I am distraught. Your country is in flames and mine is considering adding to the conflagration. I am ashamed. Why can't the US take whatever funds might be spent on missles and use those monies for humanitarian relief? Those refugees in Jordan, Lebanon et al will not benefit from a US military attack. Hardly! If my country wants to demonstrate to the world that we are a compassionate, humane people, let us send doctors and medicines and blankets and bedtime stories for terrorized children. Isn't that the obvious and logical and humane response? If I can understand that sitting in my comfortable, safe little house in Portland, Oregon, what is wrong with my government? Why is peace so hard to hope for, much less achieve? You are in my heart!
