South Kivu, my homeland that is rich in fruit – if you go into its forests, villages and hills, the fruits will display to you their beauty. Locally, the population eats the fruit, makes juice, we call them our friends, and NGOs are investing to guide peasants, via training in the care of orchards, and popularizing basic craft techniques for fruit preservation and processing. This will allow farmers to enjoy profits for the whole year, with consistent revenue derived from skill.

Illiteracy rate is a key indicator in Univra, Kalehe and Kabare as to how valuable modern agricultural techniques are. The growth of fruits is favoured by good climate in the region, but its political instability has threatened the region in these last few years and causes displacement in the population. All of these movements weaken the system of production, causing food insecurity.

Today’s agricultural rate now tends to destroy good work following insecurity in the fields, or enemies of peace will rape the women in the fields. The deficiency of professional activity in farmer environment can be explained by a lack of big companies, which can invest in modern industry. The consumption unit of fruit vendors can be everything, if one popularizes new recovery techniques following a 23% decline.

The different fruits: oranges, mandarins, lemons, bitter oranges, pineapples, avocados, guavas, papayas, passionfruit, plums and bananas. Despite this production in the south of Kivu, poverty hits this population hard. At harvest, there are movements, which push the displacement of the population in South Kivu. Or in Idjwi, and Uvira there is at present good revenue of fruit to South Kivu.
The agriculture of fruits: There will be more motivation to work in fruit production, for not having any other activity in agriculture, which is the alternative source to revenue according to household surveys about farmer who sell f…(flowers?)

We ask people who read our documents to contribute to the peace and prosperity of fruit production in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
