Philippines, My Philippines!
A good friend of mine asked me to post a serious message in the internet so that the world can know the sad facts about our beloved country. Although there is hope for real change, it is almost impossible. Listen to her story:
Philippines, My Philippines!
By: Winnie H.Catipon
Since the 15th century, the Philippines has been ravaged and destroyed, first, by the Spaniards, then by the Americans, later by the Japanese, and now by my own countrymen,
The latest issue is about our foreign affairs officials. They are paid highly to help Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) but what do they do? They put up sex brothels at the Philippine embassies to gain more money. This elevates them to the highest echelon of sex syndicates. They belong to the lowest class of people and evil men. They are enslaving Filipino women who were already maltreated by their employers. I curse you, officials at the Philippine Embassy in many parts of the world! May you die a heinous death or get sick of incurable diseases. I curse your children as well! I know this is true because my beautiful and innocent relative was a victim of your inhuman business long ago.
How about the Department of Public Works and Highways? The Metropolitan Iloilo Waterworks Development (MIWD), National Food Authority (NFA), Social Security Services (SSS), Government Service Insurance Services (GSIS), Philippine Veterans Authority Office (PVAO) and many other government agencies and government controlled corporations? You know what you are doing with the taxpayers' money for physical infrastructures, water supply, rice importation, and many other projects.
I pity the old and ailing pensioners who are in their 80s and 90s.They depend on their meager pension for their medicine and food. Some of them still give portions of their pensions to their jobless children. Recently, many of them no longer receive their pensions. Their support were cut off because of new requirements. The veterans are already poor but without their pensions, they are now destitute. May God punish the decision makers who change the policies without due process. I curse you and may this curse go down to your families from generation to generation!
The honor brought by Filipino achievers cannot negate the low regard for us by the world. We have been known as a nation of servants and corrupt officials. You, officials, do not want to change and follow the "Matuwid Na Daan" (Straight Way). You have no conscience! All you want is more money, more power, more positions, more houses, jewelries, cars, and women. May you meet the fury of the Lord who will punish you for all your sins. Remember history. No kingdom, power or wealth has endured time. All must come down with your position, power and wealth.
May you will see this fact before it is too late to repent. The Lord does NOT force you to acknowledge or trust Him. It is your choice. But even if you do not believe in Him, He is still God.
Man without God is nothing. What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his soul? NOTHING. but eternal damnation in HELL! You may get angry and still not believe about this truth, still God is God! Even Satan, your father, knows this.
It is boggling though why the President of the Philippines has not ever asked how the AFP Modernization Budget was spent. He does not wonder why we still do not have modern jet fighters, warships, tanks etc. Why these foreign-trained generals cannot fight the Chinese who are claiming our islands and waters.
I am also bothered over the fact that many generals disagree to elevate PVAO as Department of Veterans Affairs managed by honest civilians. Why?
And why can't PVAO and the National Government give what is due to the WWII veterans and survivors? These veterans and their spouses receive only a pittance - P5000 a month - while the AFP retirees receive pensions from both the AFP and PVAO! Where is fairness and justice there?
Not contented with their double pensions, the retired generals want to get the assets of the veterans which are lodged with the Veterans Bank of the Philippines, Philippine Veterans Center property, and other properties granted to the WWII veterans and their survivors? The greed of these generals reaches the heavens and they are not ashamed!
PVAO and the Commission on Audit (COA) have no right to intevene in the VFP budget since it is taken from the P500 annual dues of the veterans. Part of this budget should be released to the VFP for the campaign expenses of the VFP Partylist every election time. I have a feeling that some government officials would sabotage the VFP campaign so that the partylist would not win even one seat in Congress. If indeed true, this is another form of treachery, greed and selfishness. May God punish you for a long, long time!
This is the same wish I have for politicians who protect professional squatters who pollute our water systems and denude our natural resources. Instead of teaching the poor to work to get food, politicians perpetuate mendicancy. They do not only run for public office to gain access to public funds but to be addressed as "Honorable"! Shame on them! They do not know what 'HONORABLE" means!
Providential punishment should also befall the Philippine National Police. Many of our policemen are lazy, negligent, dishonest, ignorant of the law, and are corrupt! Equally sad, they protect corrupt officials and criminals. A number of them are law breakers also. At their stations, police officers play cards, or spend hours talking about women and sex. How low their IQ and EQ are! When you call for help, either they ignore the call, or they come when the trouble is already over.
The inefficiency and low qualifications of our policemen explain why many crimes in the Philippines remain unsolved. But they are not bothered by the fact that their high salaries, allowances, training, and perks are paid by the lowly tax payers!
There are a lot more anomalies in our society. My blood pressure shoots up by just thinking about them. Much as I want to be optimistic, I should be realistic. Given the loose and rotting moral fiber of Philippine society, my vision for my beloved country is dark and grim. I believe that the only way to achieve a sustained positive change is for every Filipino to embrace and accept Jesus as their Lord and King. But of course, not many will believe and do this. And so I weep for my country and just see how God will pass His judgment on those who deserve it.
