Who is a Friend?

Dear Rafiki

We are here waiting anxiously for letters from our Rafiki but today I could not help but have my mind ponder on the word friend. Who is a Friend?

As ! searched the internet I found this description of a friend.

"Who is a friend?
A friend is...
A push when you've stopped,
A word when you're lonely,
A guide when you're searching,
A light when you go blind;
A glass of ice lemonade when you feel thirsty,
A colour-drenched scene when you're in the dark.
A guarantee when you're uncertain,
A cheer when you fear,
A smile when you're sad,
A song when you're glad,
A sense of trust when you're in deep rest.
Do we really have such a "friend"?

Arathie Chandramoulli, IX

Many of us have once had friend who left us in time of trouble, friend who took advantage of us , Friends who lied and mocked us, friends who slandered and gossiped about us, friend who stole from
if they were not true friend at least some time we consideredthem as friends before they showed us their true colours

so who is a friend? Send in your contribution let me know who a friend is to you

a friend

thank you for such a wonderful article.
yes at times we really question about our friend and to me a friend is that person who will always stand by me even when am in grief or agonising moments, the one who will lift me when i fall down by giving counsel or by letting me know when am wrong the one who will encourage me rather than discourage who will be proud of me as who i am despite my weakness. always there even when others disappear and always willing to give me an ear and ashoulder to lean on.when am sad is there to give me a smile whether am far or near them and who will not always wait for benefits from helping me out.a person i can rely on even in my most distressing moments.
to me a friend is a real treasure who adores me and cherish me.

Friends do not come very easily

Who is a friend? This can be looked at from various perspectives. We have the parasites who are out looking for ways to benefit, the bully who wants to control you, the angels who always appear at the right moment and so on. We can come up with as many definitions as our mind stretches.

But the best example of a friend is the Lord Jesus Christ who gave of himself wholeheartedly. When everyone was against you, he always saw something positive e.g. Zacchaeus, the Adulterous woman etc. A friend plays a great role in positively shaping his or her partner. Its more of a symbiotic relationship or a win/win situation. A friend changes your negative into a positive. A friend is trustworthy, caring, loving, patient, honest etc.

I agree, describing what a

I agree, describing what a friend is is a tree...with many branches. Lately, I've seen to myself that a deep friend is one whom you will grow with. From being honest about communication mistakes, fashion, to evolving. I am finding how important it is for a friend to be open and to find friends whom have passion similar to yours. In this current life, I feel that everything above that was commented is so true, as well as befriending others so we may all be guided to the one spot we all started. Thus, peace and equality of life will be joined.
