Inspiration for today: #1
This is one of those moments when there is time to breathe, to take in. To just be. When these times come, it is always a question of how to use this precious commodity. Work? Play? Rest? It is a certainty this gift will not go to waste. This morning, I am choosing to let the surroundings nurish and inspire. My hope is that you will find what is needed for your soul in these next few entries.
First, a bit of background. Many years ago, circumstnaces of life led my family to uproot from our home and move a ways away from our community. Settling in these very remote Colorado mountains containing more cows than people, was surely not the ideal for a suburban, social 17-year-old. But, as with many difiiculties in life, in the end this place has become a refuge and a solace. My eyes can wander, my legs can move, and I am transported. And, oh, how I am blessed to have a Mother who provides needed support and nourishment for my body and soul when I am here.
This is one of those moments, right now in the quiet, where I am choosing to not choose. I am not deciding where to look- my eyes are drawn to where they want to be. I am not choosing to act- my body knows what is needed. I am just being. I am breathing. I am open to receive what is needed and what is being given to me this day. These gifts of time may be momentary, they may last for days. I am grateful.
Although pictures can be powerful, I do realize these are not the same as being present here. There is a kind of power and nurishment that occurs when we behold such grandeur. In either case, learn to be aware without judgement. Breathe without effort. Let your eyes and mind wander where they may. Notice. Receive grace. Practice gratefulness. Above all, know that you are loved.
