The prostitution problem in the Democratic Republic of Congo, in general and those of South Kivu in particular, has always been a complex problem much more frequently in familial life.
Let’s look at sexual vagrancy. These women not only live under horrifying and difficult conditions that don’t allow them to satisfy their needs, but also most of them have become sexually obsessed. For others, it’s the middle ground in which these free women live.
Also, note that, curiously, certain divorced women, widows, and women above the age of 40 still continue to practice prostitution. And more seriously, they even bring in young girls, encouraging them and sending them to married men so that they can make a profit.
Women of today have become businesses, instruments of commerce for earning money. They tell themselves that they’re satisfied with prostitution for the satisfaction of their needs and expenses. They tell themselves that they have a lot of needs and expenses.
This alarming situation is partly the fault of the state. The state doesn’t do anything to supervise the women and girls who are prostitutes by ignorance, without decent living conditions, with unemployed parents. All on minimum wage, which doesn’t cover primary familial or socio-psychological needs. This situation of dissatisfaction pushes them to prostitute themselves.
On the other hand, you have parents who pay less attention to their daughters and don’t provide them with a solid education, even though they have a duty to provide advice and respond to their needs. Some parents use their daughters like a tool to bring money to the family for lack of another way. For others, their daughters wish to help.
Therefore, women/girls are responsible for their life as a prostitute because most of them don’t accept themselves as they are, they always want more of what they already have.
They don’t only do it to improve their lives or because they have no other way, but equally because they want to. They are excited by the idea of prostitution because they won’t lack for anything, and their parents will have all the means necessary to satisfy their needs.
This situation is bad for human life, and presents many consequences to the population, such as: unwanted pregnancies, premature births, a higher birth rate where will be many badly educated, unhealthy children, and therefore a higher rate of illiteracy and street children. All of these are major factors in underdevelopment, transmission of contagious diseases such as AIDS, and higher mortality rates.

Q1: As a parent, what do you think of this situation?
Q2: What can we, as young women, do to eradicate this shameful situation?
Q3: What methods and techniques can we, as parents and young women, propose to the government that would be appropriate for this situation?

Mon avis
