There was a young girl in our neighborhood who wanted to get married. She went to her uncle’s house to pick up some wedding things. On the way, she met one of her classmates and told her where she was going. Her friend tricked her, saying “my friend, before you go to your uncle’s house, I know a man who can give you your wedding things.” The girl accepted and went with her friend. When she arrived at the man’s house, he told her “before I give you your wedding things, you must do me a service.” The girl refused, but the man overpowered and raped her. The girl kept it to herself, hidden from her parents and her fiancé. To her dismay, she found out that she was pregnant. She hid this fact, intending to kill herself. But her friend, the one who tricked her, told her that she could abort the pregnancy. The girl told her friend that she would rather die. Her friend tried to convince her that she could still get married, as long as she aborted. The girl tried to take poison to kill herself, but her father found her. The girl wouldn’t tell him anything. Her father pleaded with her, asking why she had the poison, but she wouldn’t tell him. Her wedding day had arrived, and she told her father she was going to get dressed with her fiancé. Her father didn’t know that she was pregnant, and she got married. Arriving at her new husband’s house, her husband found out she was pregnant, and he asked “my love, whose child are you carrying?” The girl replied, crying, that she had been raped on the day that she had gone to pick up her wedding things. Her husband asked her why she hadn’t told him before the marriage, and she replied “I knew that if I had told you, you might leave.” Her husband dismissed her, and she stayed unhappy for the rest of her life. The girl could have told her parents and her fiancé. I say to all young girls, life is too precious, you must accept that you’ll make mistakes and be betrayed. THANKS
