A Tale of Boundless Love

My Very Own Story Scarf

With my phone in one hand trying to call her and my eyes wandering about the coffee shop; I kept asking myself: “Is she really here like her last text message said? Is this truly happening?” Then I caught sight of her. She came!

Even though we couldn't talk much, we laughed and giggled like we've known each other forever - and indeed we have; we have read and commented on each other’s stories, we have discovered that we have the same passion for helping vulnerable teenage girls, for supporting ourselves as women and we have shared stories of how we are making a difference in our small way.

She did not only come with her face full of smiles and hopes and love; she came bearing gifts of flax seed which is a great natural food my doctor recommended and a handmade story scarf.

Now I too have a scarf that tells a truly compelling story; from the industrious hands of vulnerable teenage girls who are determined to better their lives in Soweto to a little coffee shop at the Garden City Hospital where I received this loving and reassuring gift to my World Pulse journal and finally to Ajegunle – a slum where I work with teenage girls in rural Lagos Nigeria whom I am eager to share this gift with!

It is truly amazing how World Pulse unites women from all corners of the earth in a world full of so much disunity, hatred and hostility.
