Misogyny and Women's Health

First Slide Grimes Presentation at the UNM

Hello everyone

I want to share a presentation from Dr. David A. Grimes ( Dr. Grimes has been a renown advocate for women's reproductive rights in the United States and internationally for many, many years. This presentation is very informative and helpful to get a glimpse of how misogyny works in undermining women's health. The presentation has a Q&A part at the end from the audience. I encourage everyone to look up Dr. Grimes articles and research as well to gear up on arguments on why is so important to eradicate misogyny in our society. This is the presentation:

Have a great day everyone.

Misogyny is deep rooted

Wonderful presentation.

Misogyny is something which is deeply entrenched in the psyches of both men and women. In India, when we talk about misogyny and women's rights, people quickly put the label of 'misandry' on us. Unfortunately, i know few women who believe that domestic violence and getting beaten by your husband/ partner, 'once in a while' is absolutely okay. They refuse to agitate or even complain. The same temperament is then passed on to the future generations, where the girl grows up thinking it is okay to get beaten, and the boys think it is okay to beat his wife/ partner. That's how the whole 'misogynistic' attitude gets perpetuated.

This needs to stop. Only by speaking up and saying no to any kind of abuse, can we uplift ourselves and build an equitable society.

Thank you again for sharing this. Looking forward to more interactions.
