Celebration of International Day of the African Child

Day of the African Child. This day had just been instituted in memory of the Soweto massacres in South Africa.
Our country, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, like other African countries, has seen several events in the capital Kinshasa and in the majority of the provinces.
In the course of said events, the situation confronting children in the country was denounced by several organizations who supervise children. It was revealed that some children are victims of several kinds of suffering following the separation of their parents by divorce or death. Others, the majority of whom experience abnormal situations after wars and armed conflicts, simply see their children's rights violated and disturbed by adults, etc. ...
Several very harmful consequences threaten the life of children in our African countries. Hence, the rise of cases of children in conflict with the law, children living in the street, militarized children, child victims of rape and violence, etc. ...
The entire world must take the situation of children seriously. Children constitute the future of a people. When they are marginalized, it is the future of a whole people that sees itself sacrificed.
"We call upon everyone's conscience to take a favorable look at the situation of children."
"We, Congolese women, say NON to the marginalization of children, and YES to the respect for their rights."

Amicalement,
Kirsten (traductrice français->anglais)
