Why the why of me pulsing here :)

Just a humble offering from my garden :)

The title is inspired by a conversation I had with a dear friend some days ago. You can find 'her' on this page, at the end! :) We were talking about the irony of life, fate, and our very being and 'the why of the why of the why' came up as there appeared to be questions within questions wherever we looked. :)

Anyways, the purpose of this post is to start this journey with some reflection about why I am here, and sharing it with all of you lovely people. I am using the the 3 points provided on the readings.

I am here because I need support to strengthen my voice.
My voice is unwavering, strong, assertive, compassionate, and above all it is loud.

Harnessing my voice to be just the above will take some time and effort. And that's what I hope to be doing here. I want to be a correspondent because I want to learn to be a voice for the voiceless in the society; to bring marginalized issues to the forefront for a meaningful change.

To do that our contribution should be unwavering. Honest, strong, solutions-based journalism will help my community to address important issues that are sidelined; sidelined because they do not affect the elite.

Before I end this introductory piece, I would like to introduce you to a great writer who I have the privilege of calling a friend. She has a wonderful message for us women. I share a little bit here. Follow the link to be inspired and moved by her offering. I promise you will love her pen.

"Vanishing days and vanishing nights of yesteryears
lay frozen on the eyelids of cold faces
questioning strangers in the mirror --
carrying bosoms neither heaving nor collapsing,
on which wet threads ran between the lashes and red stains —
drop by drop onto futile hearts....

Nice

hi Aminah,i like your piece especially the part that says some issues are sidelined because they do not affect the elite.very true

Yes Tina
The elite have access to media channels and also the policy makers.
So it's upto the citizens like us to make sure issues important at ground-level is magnified and addressed.

Ishtar's poem

You're quite right, Aminath, that poem is incredible. Particularly her analogy of the nearly-ensnared bird. WOW. And thank you for the garden offerings, crazy intoxicating colors and shapes!! Big hug from you VM

My garden!
It's the one place I find tranquility. Given the space issues in Male' City, we don't usually have space for gardens as such. My garden is just an area of about 3sq ft on the corner balcony. It's the tiniest space in our apartment, but the moment I stand there, it feels like the whole world :)
And yes, I like colors - orange especially.

And thank you for taking time to read Ishtar's poem. The poem, in addition to her other writings, moved me so much - words are not enough to explain how powerful her writings are. Let's say her soul is the next best thing after my garden :)

Hugs to you too my dear VM :D
I look forward to working with you.

Your post is compelling and thanks too for sharing with us from your friend's creative mind.

It's always a delight to read your lines.

Our creativity is also to be admired and promoted.
That's exactly what we do here isn't it?
