Introducing myself and my journal: GirlPower:Empowering Zimbabwe's girl child-

About Me:
I am the Media Liaison Specialist at UNICEF Zimbabwe. One of my responsibilities is to promote visibility and advocacy on the light on the plight of women and children in Zimbabwe. During my time at Unicef I have developed a great passion for the girl child after seeing their plight, especially in the rural areas on Zimbabwe. For some of these girls the future is bleak with the only guarantee is marriage and motherhood in impoverished circumstances. In a country which boasts a literacy rate of 90%, many of these rural girls are very bright and intelligent. It is my aspiration to open the doors and windows for these girls, to enable them to break the cycle of poverty and to see a works beyond their limited circumstances.

My Vision for the Future:
True parity for women across the African continent

My Areas of Expertise:
All things media.

Welcome to World Pulse!

Dear Ebmupfumira,

I want to give you a warm welcome to World Pulse and thank you for joining. I've found this to be a uniquely inspiring, informative, and supportive community of women who share common values--a commitment to seeking justice, serving the greater good, empowering girls, and ending discrimination. I know you will be very encouraged and inspired by being here. Thank you for adding your voice and sharing your story with us.

You have found such a noble and helpful calling, seeking to bring equal opportunity and access to education to rural girls in Zimbabwe. Each and every child has the right to fulfill their potential, through a quality education, mentoring, and loving guidance. I'm moved that you are passionate about opening up these girls' vista to allow them to see the field of limitless possibilities open to them!

We would love to learn more about the work that you're doing with UNICEF. I invite you to submit a written piece to the "Girls Transform the World" campaign and share your story, your challenges and successes as well as your solutions:
