Breastfeeding (Advice on nursing)

Breastfeeding is the act of feeding one’s child from the breast.
--The will to breastfeed must be accompanied by a certain knowledge and technique.
--Breastfeeding should begin as early as possible.
--There is no such thing as “bad milk.” All women produce “good” milk that fits the needs of their babies.
--Good positioning allows for efficient latching, pleasing lactational stimulation, and little risk of unpleasantness (cracks, blockages, etc.).
--Know how to detect the signs of a good latch in order to ensure effective nursing.
--Though nursing is a natural process, it’s taking hold in a progressive way. Starting to breastfeed will require patience and drive. Knowing this will help you better prepare for when it’s time.
--Don’t go through doubt or difficulty alone. Call on your support system, whether it’s family, friends, or professionals.
--Don’t lose yourself in breastfeeding; remember to rest and relax. This will help both you and your milk production.
--Know how to care for your breasts by taking preventative measures or by acting as soon as you notice a problem.
--Weaning is part of the nursing process; the more progressive the weaning, the more easily it will come to pass (whether psychologically or physically!)

Merci

Chaleureusement,
LightMyWay
