Introducing myself and my journal: Thankyou's where I'll start

About Me:
Hello to everyone. Im happy and excited to become a part of the community and have the opportunity to share thoughts, ideas, experiences and a space where discussion on issues we all care about is open and free.
I've worked in international development for nearly 5 years, focusing mainly on childrens and communities right to quality education, especially girls and women. A core element of my work has been and I hope will continue to be ensuring that girls and women are able to make choices about their lives and have a leading say over decisions that affect their lives.
I'm trying to learn and become better at this every day. Im looking forward to contributing that to and building on that in this community.

My Passions:
Girls and Women's Rights, Gender Equality, Education for All, Global community

My Challenges:
Thinking better and deeper everyday, Striving for ongoing learning, Seeking to understand the very complex problems and challenges we face in our work

My Vision for the Future:
A global community where dialogue, collaboration and collective action guide us, where we seek and value sameness in difference, and girls and women have freedom to choose how they live their lives and to fulfil their potential

My Areas of Expertise:
Gender equality, girls and women's right, participatory and community development, education, capacity building

sfran- Welcome to World

sfran- Welcome to World Pulse, and thank you for this great introduction! Surely you will find a place here, especially with your passion for girl's and women's education! It is a building block to enable one to reach full potential, but an opportunity so many are unable to obtain. You will see many stories and journal entries here about this issue, and I'm sure you will find ways to be involved.

We would love to hear how you heard about WP, and what drew you to the organization, or anything else you may want to write about in your first journal entry. That way, other WP members can comment or reply. Also, you may want to click on the Voices Rising link under the PulseWire tab, read journal entries, and add people to your community.

I have found the quickest way to enter into this community is to click on the "Voices Rising" link, which is under the "PulseWire" tab near the top of the screen. From there you can easily access and read journal entries, and perhaps make a comment in reply. In order to add people to your community, click on the person's name. You will be taken to their profile, and can click on the 'add to my community' link under their photo.

Here are a couple of helpful links:

Thank you and Welcome, Sarah!

Welcome, Sarah!

It's wonderful to have you join the World Pulse community! We are women and men representing more than 190 countries around the world. I know you will love being part of this thriving network of people who, like you, are passionate and committed to changing the world for the better. Like Michelle said, you'll meet lots of others here who make it their life's work to brightening girls' and women's future through access to education. I'm glad you're planning on posting more to your journal soon--I'd like to hear about the great international development work you're doing. Thank you for being someone who is dedicating her life to helping empower girls/women!! Also, I appreciate your challenge of striving to think better/deeper all the time, grappling with solving the world's problems. This isn't for the faint of heart! It's all too easy for us (me) to get complacent, check out and take the easy road. So, courage! For all of us who want to make the world a better, more peaceful, just and joyful place!

With love and respect,

"I wish I could show you when you are lonely or in darkness the astonishing light of your own being."

Thank you Greengirl for your warm words. You make a great point about the community being a place for learning and exploring but just as crucially for contributing; I will make every effort to balance those!
