Introducing myself and my journal: Heart Path

About Me:
A third-culture 'kid' with a background in international affairs and economic development, I am passionate about building bridges of understanding with others and leveraging ideas, people and policy to build a better world. I believe that when we are able to build bridges of understanding, courageously align our heads with our hearts, and boldly give life to our voice and ideas, we can begin to inspire others to make a lasting difference in the world -- through innovation, connection, communication, collaboration, education, empowerment and engagement.

For the past two years I have been actively involved in clean energy and sustainable development initiatives between the US and China and am actively seeking ways to stay engaged in international development. In my spare time I write about heart-based leadership and empowerment via my personal blog and am currently working on a book project focused on passing on the legacy of leadership from one generation of women to the next, written from a truly global perspective.

My Passions:
I am a passionate advocate for my two children, global literacy, gender equality, leadership/empowerment, and sustainable global development.

My Challenges:
Working to overcome the challenge of 'leaning in' to and (re-)developing my career as a single mom.

My Vision for the Future:
A world in which we are able to create sustainable communities and enterprises and one in which women have equal access to education, healthcare and economic opportunity, empowered to live their own voice out loud and become leaders in their own lives.

My Areas of Expertise:
Economic/community development, international affairs, clean energy, strategic planning, business development, advocacy, writing/speaking/teaching

Thank you so much for the opportunity to join this amazing community of women around the world, equally passionate about giving life to their own voice. I look forward to sharing and learning from each of you!

Your post caught my eye as I was taking a few minutes to peruse through posts. However, I don't have my computer to write a response worthy of your wonderful introduction. So I will for now say, welcome to this amazing community! I know you will quickly find a place here, and will inspire many as you will in turn be inspired.

Please feel free to ask if you have any questions! Thank you for your contribution Pulsewire.

Michelle, Thank you so

Thank you so much...what a wonderful way to start my day! I'm truly looking forward to learning more and connecting with others via this wonderful forum.

Have a great day!

Dear Sharon,

Wow! Like Michelle says, your introduction is wonderful and I'm looking forward to reading more from you. I read some of your blog and it's marvelous and I know I will want to go back to it and ponder the wisdom there. Thank you so much for joining World Pulse and sharing your experience, compassion, knowledge, and wisdom with us! You have a lot to teach us and I appreciate your candor as well as your rich contribution to women's empowerment.

I thank you for your incredibly important work in promoting sustainability in communities and business development as well!

I want to encourage you to take a look at the Getting Started Guide if you haven't already. This will help you learn how to navigate the World Pulse website and how to get started in networking with others who share your passions and goals:

Again, welcome Sharon! I will definitely look for your posts in the days to come!

With gratitude,

"I wish I could show you when you are lonely or in darkness the astonishing light of your own being."

Hi Susan,

Thank you so much for reaching out to connect!

It's such a truly wonderful thing to be able to connect with so many women, both near and far, who share this common passion for women's empowerment in all of its various forms. I'm simultaneously encouraged, inspired and awed by the collective courage and wisdom of so many women who participate in this community.

I appreciate you checking out my blog. I started it 2.5 years ago in response to a challenge from a friend I met via the Afghan Women's Writing Project. She asked me how I could be such an advocate for women giving life to their own voice if I wasn't willing to do the same. At the time I was too afraid...too self-conscious, etc., etc. I had just turned my life inside out and the idea of publicly sharing my journey was terrifying. But I took on her challenge and now write as my own daily act of courage with the hopes that perhaps some of my own lessons and insights might benefit others.

Thanks, again, for reaching out and for directing me to the Getting Started Guide. :)

Warm wishes,
