Journeying in Miyagi Prefecture Japan
I have not posted since the end of March due to my travel schedule. Since April 1st, I have visited Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Columbia and Japan focused on growing markets that may be opening up for businesses because of new trade agreements. Competing in global market places requires a level playing field where everyone can win economically.
Over the last 2 weeks, I have been in and around Sendai, Japan. Two years ago after an earthquake that measured an incredible sharp 9.0 on the Richter scale, a series of 8 waves (measuring between 20 to 80 feet in height, slammed into the coastline in the northern Tohoku region of Japan, devastating port cities, killing more than 30,000, and leaving the cities and families reeling.
Today, I'm pleased to report, Japanese resilience and hard work have helped them to make incredible progress on the clean up. Rebuilding is beginning in many areas. I spent 4 nights with a family that had returned, and were slowly recovering.
