Welcome
Lili,
We are honoured to have you join our online community. There are so many things in your profile that inspire me and I look forward to visiting your website for "I am not cut". Thank you for sharing this with us. You might want to copy the text from "About me" to your journal. Also, your photograph of the Senegalese women is so moving. It provokes many questions and I love how the little girl is caught almost peeking at you.
We International (http://www.weinternational.org/index.html) does such important work and I hope you will share some of your insights and experiences gained from working with them. Your deep involvement in your local community is also commendable and it is through women, such as yourself and Alice Waters, that "edible education" is becoming a part of many children's daily life. You might consider starting a group around this issue, as it is becoming increasingly urgent as child obesity and diabetes levels rise, and as the international shipment of mass-produced food continues to harm our environment.
Please feel free to turn your journal into a novel, perhaps in many chapters, as your contributions and insights are so vital and can affect the lives of so many. It is through women such as yourself that stories are being told, movements are being started and laws are being reformed, as lives are transformed. You are now a member of this vibrant community and I look forward to reading more about your passions, ideas, concerns and dreams. I know that you will find this to be a positive experience.

"I want to "meet" the women in refugees camps, orphanages, hospitals, schools who have ingeniously created space for growing food and are sharing that wisdom. If you are that woman--or know of a woman from your region--who can be described as innovative, dedicated and productive gardener, please send me their stories. I want to create a montage of these for my website to go up during the next week."

Hi Lili,
Great to hear from you. I'd love to connect when I'm back in Wisconsin. In fact, I'll be home in May about the 16th for it is my little brother's graduation. Let's have dinner! One of these days I'd love to have a World Pulse presentation and gathering in Madison, perhaps at your restaurant? Feel free to contact my amazing assistant, Elsie to set something up for May!
Congratulations on your vision and work,

Hi Lilli,
I just came across your Balance post and can completely relate with what you were saying. My first post was along the same lines. It is a fine line we walk as women these days. I too long for the simpler times of our grandmothers (well, my great grandmothers) but at the same time am so thankful that I didn't start my family until later in life (36) because I got to experience so many amazing things that I am now passionate about sharing with my son. But of course, I still feel that pull to experience even more and somehow make that difference in the world. And of course I like to pretend I'm the woman who bakes her own bread and grows all her own vegetables - I'm still working on that whole aspect of my life. I'll probably just keep whacking away at my computer while I figure it all out. :-)
I am also very passionate about music and the actions and feelings it can stir in people. I would love to know of the music you find for your important video on female circumcision and cutting. You probably already know of this company, but Putumayo puts out some great music from artists all over the world. They have many cd's that are just female singers/groups. That may be a good place to find some of your songs and the artists to get permission from!
I look forward to reading more of your posts when you find the time to write them. It is a struggle for me as well to sit down and pick one topic and just write! World Pulse has really inspired me to do so though.
Welcome and Cheers,
Erin
